Vizhuthugal is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of rural and economically weaker children by providing support for their education. Vizhuthugal was evolved with the foremost idea of "giving back" to the society by like-minded people. Today, Vizhuthugal, with a volunteer board & members supported lives of over 150 children in India.
We are alumni of 1994 batch of Thiagarajar College of Engineering,(TCE), affiliated with the Madurai Kamaraj University, who are passionate about making education affordable to every Indian child. Our alumnus is 300 members strong and interested in giving back to the society.
Vizhuthugal (pronounced vi-lu-thu-gal) in Tamil language stands for the aerial prop root from the Banyan Tree which makes the tree strong and gives back to the protects the tree in any adverse conditions. Since this embodies our service to the society which helped us to lead productive lives, we have aptly named our trust as Vizhuthugal TCE 94 as we want the beneficiary of our trust to become independent and in turn able to help other needy persons in the future.
Vizhuthugal TCE 94 NPO is a trust registered with Government of India founded in the year 2008. Vizhuthugal's orgnaization structure consists of President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Board of Advisors. We conduct elections every year to choose the Leadership. All the members in the organization work on volunteer basis which helps us to maintain overhead at very minimum and helps us to allocate all the fund raising money for the needy children.
Why did we start this trust?
“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime". Vizhuthugal is built on this philosophy.
We believe all of us if not most of us are in a good position both in our present Job or Business. At Vizhuthugal, we believe that we are here at this stage of life and status is due to the education we received during our schools and colleges for which we are very thankful and grateful. In order to reciprocate the gratitude to the society, we have decided to help and educate every individual child who is deprived of getting proper education.
